Cynefin mural

“Cynefin” is a Welsh term defined by Curriculum for Wales as ‘the place where we feel we belong, where the people and landscape around us are familiar, and the sights and sounds are reassuringly recognisable.’

You can read more about it here

I was asked by Greening Maindee to decorate a grubby transformer box outside Maindee Primary school.

Pupils from year 5 had made their own designs and suggestions of themes for the mural.  I also visited year 6 on the first day to talk about my design process and show them previous work.

During the painting lots of pupils were brought out in small groups to see the painting in action and ask me questions about how I use the spray cans, what all the species were etc.

The transformer was situated under a tree, next to some beautiful raised beds with a stunning mix of plants bursting out of them.

Big thanks to Greening Maindee, for making it all happen 🙏🐛🐜🪲🐞🐝🌼🌻🌷🌹🍃🍁🌿
